What to wear to a Photoshoot

You may be surprised to know that I dread having my photo taking! So much so, that I refused to have an official photographer at our wedding three years ago, and instead asked friends and family attending to send us any good photos in lieu of gifts.

However, times do arise when you need a professional photographer - whether it's for a business head shot, website or a family portrait. What you wear is important for three main reasons:

1. Your clothing should suit your body shape and colouring.

Wearing a flattering colour will make you look younger and fresher in a way that no amount of make-up and photo shopping can, and choosing clothing that works with your body shape helps you look taller and slimmer.

2. Your clothing should reflect your personality, or the ‘personality’ of your business. A first impression is made within three seconds, so make sure it’s correct. Use your clothing to tell some of the story of who you are and what your business is about.

3. For group shots, not only does the above apply for each individual, it’s also important to ensure that the entire group compliments each other, in both style and colour choices.

I can help you choose your outfit for your photoshoot using your own clothing or shopping with you for a new one.

I am available for Personal Style workshops, public speaking, wardrobe and colour consultations and personal shopping styling sessions, based in Perth, Western Australia.
