Size 6, Short and a Woman, Not a Girl?

If you are a short size 6 woman over 35, this is for you!

You'll have experienced difficulty in finding clothes that fit you and flatter you.

Why?

Many labels for 'mature' women tend to be bigger in sizing, and often don't carry size 6. And the younger labels seem, well, just too young. Now, I'm all for older women dressing in clothing that is made for young women, as long as it fits and flatters. The problem when you're a size 6 mature woman is that these clothes can look 'little girl' like on you, which just does not work especially when you're trying to look elegant, professional, chic or classic.

What to do.

Look for specialty petite labels in department stores. Portmans and Forever New have a good range in size 6, and it's worth checking out the Dannii Minogue range in Target too.

When you do find size 6 clothing, here are a few tips that will help you choose styles to give you shape, but not bulk.

Look for:

Shirts and tops with narrow vertical stripes. Shirts with a contrasting collar and cuff will aso work well.

A biker style jacket.

Block colour - if you want to wear a print, choose the smallest print you can find.

And Avoid:

Bulky fabrics.

Boxy tops and jackets.
